Association for Specialist Fire Protection Ireland

ASFPI will be presenting and exhibiting at the annual IFE Fire Safety Conference on Wednesday 18th October in the Carlton Dublin Airport Hotel. The full range of ASFP guidance will be on display, including the ASFP the Colour Books and Ensuring Best Practice for Passive Fire Protection in Buildings (referenced in TGD B).

The conference will consider Communicating the Fire Safety Message, studying a range of issues impacting the design, construction and management of fire safety. It will examine legacy issues and investigate current and future developments. ASFPI Operations Manager David O'Reilly will be speaking on how effective compartmentation prevents fire spread and explaiing how this can be achieved and who is responsible.

The conference will provide an opportunity to learn from real life experiences with speakers representing the fire service, private practice and academic research. It will interest Architects, Engineers, Facility Managers, Premises Owners, Fire Service Personnel and others.

The Building Control (Amendment) Regulations (BCAR), implemented in 2014, set high standards challenging those involved in design, inspection and certification of fire safety in buildings. “Communicating the Fire Safety Message" will interest those seeking to acquire and demonstrate relevant and appropriate competence. It will also provide some understanding for building owners and occupiers struggling to manage the legacy of defective building works.

The 2016 IFE Conference, “The Undesigned Fire”, attracted 120 plus delegates from across the fire safety and emergency communities. The 2017 Conference will again be supported by industry exhibitions providing information on fire safety systems and guidance on legislative compliance and international best practice.
